Maclean is considered the ‘Scottish Town in Australia’ and clans invade the township for the Highland Gathering coming from all around the countryside.

Piping competitions occur around the clock at several locations, together with performances with dancers, pipers and singers. A march to the showground of all the participating pipe bands happens and is followed by traditional Scottish games and dance – tossing the Caber and hammer throwing, food stalls and Scottish goods wait for the bands guests at the Showgrounds in advance of a Marvelous Scottish Concert at the Civic Hall.
